What should I bring to the BBQ

MCMC FITNESS

What do I bring to the Barbecue?

FROM MCMC FITNESS

Here is how you can enjoy your holiday weekend and not wreck your new found healthy eating habits.

Bring a healthy side or appetizer to the party. Ask your host if you can bring a dish to share. She/he will say yes without hesitation. Then try the following:

Bring a vegetable tray with a great healthy dip. A suggestion would be the following:

  • red peppers ( large, seeded and cut into 1-inch strips)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp kosher salt (plus more as needed)
  • 2 handfuls baby spinach (fresh, washed and dried)
  • 1 cup low-fat sour cream
  • 1 cup low fat Greek yogurt
  • Mix and serve with fresh vegetables

Plan your day

Take walk or exercise for 20 minutes in the morning.
Start your day with a healthy protein breakfast.

Have a omelet with vegetables or a fruit smoothie with almond butter.

For lunch have a salad with a protein source

Enjoy a few glasses of extra water through out the day

Before the party,

have a snack like a tbs of humus with carrots to ensure

that you don't overeat later.

At the barbecue fill your plate with one half vegetables/salad then 1/4 of

anything you desire like potato salad or hamburger and save the

last 1/4

of your plate with a dessert.

To drink, alternate water with whatever else you are having to drink.

Ask someone to take a walk with you after dinner.

Offer to help clean up too. You will help your host and burn a few extra

calories.

Praise yourself for your good choices and don't forget to walk the next

day too.
